Rethinking cocktail hour music

It is always interesting to me when an idea is born. The reasons behind revelations are wildly different, but more often than not I think they spawn from a void that no past idea was able to fill. In our case, it had become apparent that although the event industry was changing dramatically with the constant influx of new technology, one thing had not modernized… cocktail hour music.

I guess sometimes all it takes is for someone to say, “…What else you got?” There was a demand for something new and different. The idea didn’t actually come instantly. Instead, the project of innovating cocktail hour music gripped and intrigued us so much that over the next 4 days we slept a total of 12 hours and almost single-handedly overburdened the Dunkin’ Donuts supply chain. However, all the late hours at the studio, runs to the local audio store, and torn pages of tech manuals led us to a truly new and innovative approach to cocktail hour music. Digital Soul is the seamless fusion of live digital remixing, midi manipulation, digital effects processing, electric custom instruments, and the elegant improvisation of a trained jazz ensemble. From that point on, cocktail hour music has had a completely different meaning to us and all those who we have had the privilege of performing for. To this day, we constantly search for new ways to improve and expand the ideas for our unique brand of cocktail hour music. It has become a passion of ours and we are as excited about our next cocktail hour music performance as we were for our first.
